Reflecting on the profound philosophical convergence uniting the Left and Dravidian traditions, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin commended poet Jeevabharathi for authoring the monumental volume Kaalamthorum Communists, which chronicles the sacrifices of one hundred historic communist freedom fighters and labor organizers who shed blood to plant socialist ideas and defend workers' rights across Tamil Nadu. Stalin affirmed that communism originated from the noble ideal of everything for everyone, striving globally to dismantle class divisions and economic exploitation.
The Chief Minister observed that in the Indian socio-cultural context, eradicating ingrained caste hierarchy constitutes the indispensable precondition for ending human exploitation, which gave birth to the Dravidian self-respect movement. Stalin recalled that former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi frequently observed that had he not encountered Thanthai Periyar and Perarignar Anna, he would have naturally become a communist, illustrating the unbreakable ideological affinity connecting both historic movements.
Stalin urged the younger generation to read Kaalamthorum Communists to absorb the inspiring history of selfless sacrifices made by Left organizers against oppressive feudal hegemony. He concluded that unity among progressive democratic forces remains essential to defend social equality.
