Detailing the comprehensive logistics of the landmark Thayumanavar welfare program, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced that the scheme will commence operations on August 12, directly benefiting 21,70,454 individuals across 16,73,333 household ration cards statewide. Stalin explained that the program is structured specifically to deliver essential public distribution commodities straight to the doorsteps of bedridden elders, senior citizens living alone, and individuals with severe physical disabilities who face substantial hardships reaching fair price retail shops.

The Chief Minister outlined the delivery schedule, specifying that mobile distribution teams will operate on the second Saturday and Sunday of every calendar month. Specially equipped closed vehicles outfitted with precision electronic weighing machines and biometric point-of-sale terminals will visit beneficiaries' residences, ensuring fully transparent, authenticated, and dignified delivery of entitled foodgrain rations right at their doorsteps without imposing any transport costs or physical burdens upon vulnerable families.
