Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced that the state's pioneering Chief Minister's Breakfast Scheme will undergo historic statewide expansion, bringing government-aided primary schools into the universal morning nutrition safety net starting from the Mylapore constituency in Chennai. Stalin affirmed that expanding nutritious morning meals to aided institutions ensures that young students from economically marginalized families studying in non-governmental charitable schools receive the same daily nutritional support as their peers in local body and government institutions.
The Chief Minister underscored that morning meal provision has established itself as an indispensable intervention in combating preventable childhood malnutrition, and completely eliminating classroom morning hunger among young pupils. Stalin observed that by providing fresh, wholesome breakfast dishes formulated under strict dietary guidelines, the scheme has delivered significant improvements in daily pupil attendance, punctuality, and cognitive learning engagement across elementary grades.
Stalin concluded that expanding foundational child nutrition reflects the core egalitarian ethos of the Dravidian Model governance. He affirmed that his administration will tirelessly safeguard child health and educational equality, ensuring that economic hardship never hinders a child's foundational schooling or intellectual development across the state.
