Stalin lauded the massive success of a condemnation demonstration organized by the Secular Progressive Alliance in Tiruppur, registering vigorous public protest against steep tariffs imposed by the United States on Indian textile exports. Addressing Prime Minister Narendra Modi directly, Stalin pointed out that Tiruppur—the premier textile hub providing livelihoods to thousands of Tamil Nadu youth and migrant laborers from several northern states—faces severe industrial distress due to retaliatory duties enacted under the Trump administration.
The Chief Minister questioned the central government's economic priorities, asking why the Union administration readily facilitates cheap imports of Russian crude oil for private petroleum refineries in Gujarat while leaving labor-intensive export sectors in southern India vulnerable to crippling international tariff barriers. Stalin urged the Prime Minister to immediately announce a comprehensive federal relief package, grant urgent working capital credit support, and initiate direct bilateral negotiations with Washington to safeguard domestic textile manufacturers.
Stalin thanked political party leaders, trade union representatives, and citizens who participated in the demonstration. He affirmed that the DMK will persistently champion regional industries and workers' rights against economic neglect.
