Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin visited Camberley in the United Kingdom, where he met family members of Colonel John Pennycuick alongside representatives of Saint Peter's Church to honor the British engineer who constructed the historic Mullaperiyar Dam. The family members and local church trustees expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Tamil Nadu government for installing Pennycuick's commemorative statue in his native hometown, recognizing his monumental engineering contribution that permanently transformed the arid southern districts of Tamil Nadu into fertile agricultural land.

Stalin recalled that Colonel Pennycuick sold his personal family assets in England to complete the Mullaperiyar Dam project in 1895 after colonial funds were halted, earning the eternal gratitude and veneration of farmers across Theni, Madurai, Dindigul, Sivaganga, and Ramanathapuram. The Chief Minister assured the family and church representatives that the state government will favorably examine their personal requests and community representations.

Concluding his tribute, Stalin declared that John Pennycuick's legacy will forever live in the hearts of the Tamil people. He affirmed that the Dravidian Model administration remains dedicated to honoring historical benefactors whose sacrifices sustained regional agriculture and rural livelihoods.
