அதன் தொடர்ச்சியாக, இந்தியாவின் விடுதலைக்காகப் போராடிய முதல் பெண் போராளி - ஆங்கிலேயர்களை வெற்றி கொண்ட வீரமங்கை வேலுநாச்சியாரின் திருவுருவச் சிலையை கிண்டி காந்தி மண்டப வளாகத்தில் திறந்து வைத்தேன்.
இந்த மகிழ்ச்சிமிகு நாளில், வேலூரில் உள்ள காவல் பயிற்சிப் பள்ளிக்கு வீரமங்கை வேலுநாச்சியார் அவர்களின் பெயர் சூட்டப்படும் எனப் பெருமிதத்துடன் அறிவிக்கிறேன்.
மண் - மானம் காக்கப் புயலெனப் புறப்பட்ட வீரத்தாய் வேலுநாச்சியாரின் வரலாறும் - அவருக்குத் துணை நின்ற மருது சகோதரர்கள் உள்ளிட்ட தீரமிக்க தமிழர்களின் வரலாறும், இந்த மண் யாருக்கும் தலைகுனியாது எனும் வரலாற்றை உரக்கச் சொல்லும்!
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin unveiled a bronze statue of eighteenth-century anti-colonial warrior queen Rani Velu Nachiyar at the Gandhi Mandapam complex in Guindy, Chennai, honoring India's first woman freedom fighter who defeated British colonial forces. Stalin marked the occasion by announcing that the prestigious Police Training School in Vellore will henceforth bear the name of Veeramangai Velu Nachiyar. He stated that honoring freedom fighters and preserving their revolutionary memories is a foundational duty of the Dravidian Model government.
Stalin recalled that since assuming office in 2021, his government has consistently celebrated Velu Nachiyar's valor, staging musical dance dramas depicting her life and featuring her statue on Tamil Nadu's Republic Day tableau in New Delhi. The Chief Minister paid tribute to the fearless bravery of Velu Nachiyar and the steadfast support of the Maruthu brothers and allied Tamil warriors who resisted foreign imperial rule.
Stalin concluded that the history of Velu Nachiyar demonstrates that Tamil Nadu will never bow before oppression. He asserted that naming the state police training academy after her will inspire incoming officers to serve the public with courage, integrity, and unwavering commitment to justice.
