Chief Minister M.K. Stalin announced a transformative industrial policy milestone, revealing that two world-class shipbuilding yards will be established in the coastal city of Thoothukudi with a monumental cumulative investment of thirty thousand crore rupees. Stalin highlighted that this strategic investment will create over fifty-five thousand high-value industrial and engineering employment opportunities, establishing southern Tamil Nadu as a formidable global hub for international maritime manufacturing and naval engineering.

Drawing inspiration from Tamil history, Stalin observed that ancient Sangam literature eloquently documented the maritime prowess, navigational expertise, and flourishing international oceanic commerce commanded by early Tamil seafarers. He declared that the Dravidian Model administration is actively reviving this glorious heritage by providing world-class deep-water port facilities, industrial subsidies, and specialized coastal infrastructure to attract leading global shipbuilders and allied maritime equipment suppliers to Thoothukudi.

The Chief Minister asserted that decentralizing major industrial investments toward the southern districts ensures balanced regional economic development and creates prosperous career avenues for local youth. Stalin concluded that the Thoothukudi shipbuilding cluster will accelerate Tamil Nadu's economic expansion and integrate the state into primary international maritime trade networks.
