Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated Chennai's first-ever steel flyover connecting South Usman Road and C.I.T. Nagar in the commercial center of T. Nagar. Stalin announced that the modern elevated infrastructure has been named in enduring memory of former Member of Legislative Assembly J. Anbazhagan, who made the supreme sacrifice while tirelessly distributing relief supplies and standing alongside citizens during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Constructed using advanced pre-engineered structural steel sections, the elevated roadway was engineered to expedite construction timelines and minimize civic disruption along one of Chennai's most congested retail corridors. Stalin noted that connecting South Usman Road directly to C.I.T. Nagar First Main Road will provide seamless vehicular movement, significantly relieving perennial traffic bottlenecks, reducing transit delays, and facilitating smoother movement for commercial shoppers and daily commuters.
The Chief Minister observed that honoring dedicated public servants through landmark civic infrastructure keeps their selfless dedication alive in the public consciousness. He reiterated that his administration remains focused on implementing modern transport solutions across Chennai, combining smart engineering with compassionate governance to upgrade the metropolitan transit network for future urban growth.
