Chief Minister M.K. Stalin paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary, describing the Father of the Nation as the foundational architect who envisioned India as an inclusive, pluralistic, and secular republic belonging equally to people of all faiths. Stalin emphasized that whenever divisive forces attempt to sow seeds of communal hatred and tear apart the nation's social fabric, Gandhi's moral philosophy and unwavering commitment to non-violence provide the moral strength to resist bigotry.
Stalin expressed deep anguish that the highest constitutional office of the nation had officially released commemorative postage stamps and coins marking the centenary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. He pointed out the bitter historical contradiction of honoring an organization whose extremist ideology motivated the assassination of the Father of the Nation.
The Chief Minister called upon citizens across India to take a solemn pledge on Gandhi Jayanthi to reclaim the republic from sectarian politics and restore foundational constitutional values. He declared that safeguarding secularism, composite culture, and inter-community harmony remains the only true tribute that modern India can offer to Mahatma Gandhi's enduring martyrdom and constitutional vision.
