Chief Minister M.K. Stalin sharply questioned the Bharatiya Janata Party's aggressive political posturing regarding the Karur tragedy, contrasting its immediate haste with its prolonged indifference toward severe humanitarian disasters in other Indian states. Stalin pointed out that the central government failed to dispatch urgent inquiry commissions or demonstrate comparable urgency during prolonged ethnic violence in Manipur, the catastrophic Morbi suspension bridge collapse in Gujarat, or fatal stampedes at Kumbh Mela gatherings in Uttar Pradesh.
Stalin asserted that the BJP's sudden agitation over Karur stems entirely from narrow electoral calculations ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections rather than genuine public compassion. Describing the party as a political parasite accustomed to riding on others' coattails, he accused its leadership of attempting to exploit a civilian tragedy to establish leverage over regional political allies and manipulate state politics.
The Chief Minister declared that no matter what deceptive masks adversaries adopt, how many proxies they assemble, or which defectors they attempt to co-opt, Tamil Nadu will remain completely out of their control. He affirmed that the conscious electorate of Tamil Nadu will firmly repel divisive opportunistic politics and preserve the state's self-respect.
