Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the modern Kolathur Ornamental Fish Trade Centre in Chennai, announcing the fulfillment of a key electoral commitment made to local aquatic breeders and retail vendors. Emphasizing that Kolathur has long been celebrated across Tamil Nadu as the primary hub for ornamental fish trade, Stalin stated that the new facility provides structured commercial infrastructure to elevate the sector and safeguard working-class livelihoods.

Developed under the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority, the trading complex features dedicated stalls, specialized water filtration facilities, and retail display zones designed to modernize live fish commerce. Stalin recalled that upon assuming executive office in 2021, his government pledged to safeguard and advance the livelihoods of thousands of families dependent on domestic aquarium breeding and allied micro-enterprises.

The Chief Minister inspected the newly opened trading premises and engaged with local vendor associations. He affirmed that establishing organized civic infrastructure for traditional local trades strengthens urban micro-economies and creates sustainable entrepreneurial opportunities. Stalin reiterated that his administration will continue upgrading neighborhood markets to ensure traditional urban trades thrive in modern commercial environments with dignity and security.
