Chief Minister M.K. Stalin convened an emergency review meeting via videoconference to monitor the state's administrative response to heavy rains lashing Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu, and the Cauvery delta districts. Reviewing localized rainfall patterns, reservoir inflows, and water discharge levels, Stalin directed district collectors and municipal officials to maintain constant vigil, deploy dewatering pumps in low-lying residential areas, and expedite field relief operations.
Stalin issued clear administrative instructions to ensure immediate redressal of all civic grievances received from the public through emergency helplines and municipal command centers. To safeguard agricultural livelihoods in the delta region, he ordered civil supplies authorities to ensure smooth, uninterrupted paddy procurement and ensure harvested grains at direct procurement centers are fully sheltered from moisture. The Chief Minister emphasized that protecting farmers' yields from rain damage is a vital administrative priority.
Affirming the government's field readiness, Stalin stated that elected public representatives and the entire state administrative apparatus are working round the clock on the ground. He reiterated that proactive disaster management, transparent communication, and rapid relief deployment will safeguard public safety and minimize rain disruption across all affected districts.
