Chief Minister M.K. Stalin released a dedicated public helpline number (0806542) to assist citizens with voter list verification, countering opposition claims regarding the controversial Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. Stalin stated that protecting voter lists from unlawful deletions is an urgent civic priority, urging residents across Tamil Nadu to verify their electoral entries and report anomalies immediately.
Stalin explained that the DMK firmly opposes the opaque implementation of SIR because hurried revisions historically resulted in the mass disenfranchisement of genuine electors, disproportionately impacting working-class, minority, and rural voters. By establishing a centralized telephone helpline, the party provides direct procedural assistance to electors struggling with missing names, incorrect entries, or denied inclusion requests on the official portal.
The Chief Minister called on young voters and democratic activists to actively educate their communities about electoral verification procedures. Stalin reaffirmed that the Dravidian movement has always defended universal adult suffrage as the cornerstone of self-respect and political empowerment, pledging that his party will legally and democratically combat any administrative maneuver that undermines citizens' constitutional voting rights.
He reiterated that the DMK will persistently defend the voting rights of every eligible citizen.
