Chief Minister M.K. Stalin highlighted the 'Anbucholai' senior citizen welfare initiative, showcasing newly established community daycare centers designed to prevent social isolation and support mental well-being in old age. Stalin stated that caring for elderly citizens with compassion and dignity is an essential hallmark of civilized society, declaring that loneliness in old age must be countered through vibrant community bonding.
The Anbucholai centers provide recreational spaces, daily health monitoring, physiotherapy services, nutritious refreshments, and engaging social activities for senior citizens during daytime hours. Stalin noted that changing family dynamics often leave elderly individuals alone during working hours, making dedicated community centers a transformative social intervention that promotes psychological health, friendship, and active aging.
Sharing visual glimpses of seniors enjoying the centers, the Chief Minister affirmed that the Dravidian Model governance views social welfare through an empathetic, life-cycle approach spanning childhood to advanced age. He instructed social welfare officials to expand Anbucholai facilities across municipal wards and rural blocks, ensuring every elderly resident in Tamil Nadu receives respectful community care, healthcare access, and affectionate societal companionship.
He affirmed that every senior citizen deserves a cheerful, active, and dignified life in the community.
