Chief Minister M.K. Stalin presided over a multi-sectoral governance event, inaugurating twelve new 'Thozhi' working women hostels across Tirupattur, Namakkal, Mayiladuthurai, Virudhunagar, Dindigul, Nilgiris, Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Pudukkottai, Ariyalur, Tiruvarur, and Kanyakumari. The secure, affordable hostels provide modern living accommodations for working women migrating to urban employment hubs, addressing a vital social need in India's leading female workforce state.
Stalin also laid the foundation stone for upgraded Government Model Observation Homes in Coimbatore and Tiruchirappalli, opened a new building for the Government Children's Home in Royapuram, and inaugurated the modernized Anna Silk sales complex in Kanchipuram. Additionally, an agreement was signed with SCM Garments to set up an apparel manufacturing unit in Tiruvarur, generating 2,500 local jobs.
The Chief Minister also distributed appointment orders to newly selected medical professionals joining the state healthcare service. Stalin emphasized that empowering women through secure housing, quality healthcare, and decentralized industrial employment forms the core of the Dravidian Model, pledging to expand these protective and economic welfare networks across all thirty-eight districts.
He noted that combining working women's safety with grassroots industrial jobs forms the foundation of inclusive economic empowerment.
