Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin commemorated the enduring legacy of celebrated freedom fighter V.O. Chidambaranar on his 150th birth anniversary, detailing major state initiatives undertaken to honor the nationalist icon. Stalin recalled that the Dravidian Model administration celebrated the milestone as an official government function, ensuring historical tributes reached citizens across the entire state.
Key government achievements highlighted by the Chief Minister included installing grand statues of Chidambaranar in Chennai and Tirunelveli, fully refurbishing his historic memorial hall, and naming the government arts college in Ottapidaram in his honor. Stalin emphasized that Chidambaranar's courageous maritime defiance against colonial monopoly symbolized Tamil self-respect, industrial ambition, and sacrificial patriotism during India's liberation struggle.
Reaffirming the state's commitment to preserving regional freedom fighters' legacies, Stalin stated that honoring pioneer leaders inspires present generations to uphold constitutional liberties and social progress. He asserted that the administration will continue recognizing transformative historical figures through concrete public infrastructure, educational memorials, and youth-oriented cultural programs that celebrate Tamil Nadu's defining contributions to the national independence movement.
He concluded that the Dravidian Model will always honor courageous patriots whose sacrifices built the modern republic.
