Inaugurated BIG Tech, at #SIPCOT Pillaipakkam, the joint venture of #Corning International Corporation and #Optiemus Infracom that brings India’s first advanced front cover glass production facility to Tamil Nadu, and signed the first Gorilla Glass sheet produced here, marking a proud milestone for our state.
My sincere thanks to Thiru. Ashok Gupta, Executive Chairperson of Optiemus, for his confidence in our state. From the foundation stone in 2024 to live production in 2025, this Rs. 1003 crore investment creating 840 jobs reflects the strength of our business friendly ecosystem and the forward path it opens for our youth.

Marking another milestone in Tamil Nadu's industrial ascent, M.K. Stalin celebrated the commencement of commercial production by Corning, the global leader in precision glass technologies, at the SIPCOT Pillaipakkam industrial park. The state-of-the-art facility manufactures specialized Gorilla Glass for premium smartphones and consumer electronics, generating hundreds of high-end manufacturing jobs.
Stalin highlighted that attracting a world-class technology giant like Corning reflects international corporate trust in Tamil Nadu's skilled engineering workforce, robust supply chains, and political stability. Rather than competing in low-wage assembly, the state has successfully ascended the value chain into precision materials science and semiconductor components. The inauguration cemented Tamil Nadu's reputation as the undisputed electronics manufacturing capital of India.
