Stalin sharply questioned the opposition AIADMK's position on the VBGRAMG scheme, which he says has effectively harmed the rural poor by curtailing the employment guarantee previously provided under MGNREGA. Drawing a comparison to AIADMK's past conduct on the Three Farm Laws and the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Stalin asked whether party leader Edappadi K. Palanisamy would again support Union Home Minister Amit Shah's position without objection. He criticized the removal of Mahatma Gandhi's name from the scheme in favour of a Sanskrit-derived name, and pointed out that scheme conditions remain under Union government control even as states are required to contribute funding. Invoking the legacy of C.N. Annadurai, after whom the AIADMK is named, and questioning whether former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa would have accepted such terms, Stalin framed the issue as a test of the opposition's independence from the BJP-led Union government, stating he was posing the questions on behalf of the people of Tamil Nadu.
