#ClimateChange: Policy, Action –

@TThenarasu @SupriyaSahuIAS

Editorial context

M.K. Stalin presented Tamil Nadu's climate change policy and actions as a national model, stating that the state was the first to include 'climate change' in the name of a government department and has allocated an unprecedented Rs 500 crore to implement multiple climate-related initiatives. He said Tamil Nadu is working across all levels to achieve Net Zero emissions before 2070, and noted that the United Nations has praised the state's efforts. Stalin credited the state's ongoing implementation of recommendations from the Tamil Nadu Governing Council on Climate Change, and tagged Minister T. Thennarasu and IAS officer Supriya Sahu. He said the initiative was a long-term effort that had already yielded tangible benefits over three years, aimed at securing a safe environment for future generations. The tweet positions Tamil Nadu's climate policy as a blueprint for India, based on cited budget allocation and UN recognition.
