M.K. Stalin again criticizes the Union BJP government and AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palanisamy over the VBGRAMG scheme, alleging it is a deceptive replacement for MGNREGA that reduces guaranteed workdays, shifts 40% of costs to states, and follows GST-related revenue losses for states.

In a continued critique, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin accused the Union BJP government of shortchanging the poor through the new VBGRAMG rural employment scheme, calling the promised 125 days of work a deception. He alleged that even under the legally-guaranteed 100-day MGNREGA scheme, BJP rule had limited actual work to just 20-25 days, with wage and scheme expenditure releases delayed, requiring protests to recover dues. Stalin further claimed that after rule changes granting officials discretion over work allocation, even a single day's work has become rare, and that Tamil Nadu faces a significant loss in fund allocation. He linked a new condition requiring states to bear 40% of scheme costs to fiscal pressure created by changes to the Goods and Services Tax (GST), calling it a punishment for states. He also criticized AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palanisamy for welcoming what Stalin described as the effective winding down of MGNREGA, calling it an unforgivable betrayal of rural women and poor agricultural workers.
