Despite global tariff pressures and uncertain trade conditions, they have remained committed to Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with tariff-affected industries.
Pou Chen has signed an MoU with the Government of Tamil Nadu to invest Rs.2,302 crore in Kallakurichi, creating 20,000 jobs, a major boost to local employment.
I had the honour of laying the foundation stone for this project during the Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet in January 2024. Today’s walkthrough was a chance to see their vision take shape.
The event was joined by Nike India Directors Udai Singh Mehta and Samy Vaikundaman.

Stalin visited the under-construction High Glory Footwear facility being set up by Pou Chen, described as one of the world's largest branded footwear manufacturers and a supplier to global brands including Nike, at the SIPCOT industrial estate in Ulundurpet, Kallakurichi district. Pou Chen has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Tamil Nadu government to invest Rs 2,302 crore in the project, which is expected to create 20,000 jobs. Stalin noted he had laid the foundation stone for the project during the Tamil Nadu Global Investors Meet in January 2024, and that this visit allowed him to see the project's progress. Nike India directors Udai Singh Mehta and Samy Vaikundaman attended the event, and Stalin personally handed job offer letters to five new recruits. He said Tamil Nadu remains committed to supporting industries despite global tariff pressures.
