Chief Minister M.K. Stalin formally launched 'Thirukkural Week' celebrations, honouring the ancient Tamil text Thirukkural, following through on an announcement made at the silver jubilee celebration of the 'Statue of Wisdom' — the large Thiruvalluvar statue at Kanyakumari, the southern tip of Tamil Nadu. He said the celebrations, to be held across all 38 districts of Tamil Nadu through January, will feature Kural-themed painting competitions, recitation contests, music programmes, debates, a conference of Kural teachers involving government employees and teachers, and quiz events. Stalin described the initiative as a grand festival that Tamils never tire of, calling for it to honour the legacy of the poet-philosopher Valluvar. The tweet reflects a state government cultural initiative rolled out across all districts, backed by an official programme calendar, rather than a one-off ceremonial greeting.
