Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin paid tribute on Language Martyrs Day to Natarajan and Thalamuthu, who died in 1938 during the first phase of the agitation against the imposition of Hindi in the then Madras Presidency. He visited their memorial and also paid respects to Dharmambal, described as a woman who fought in the language agitation. As part of the day's programme, Stalin unveiled statues at the Thalamuthu Natarajan Mansion in Egmore, Chennai. He also remembered other martyrs who lost their lives during subsequent anti-Hindi-imposition agitations. The event was held under the hashtags #StopHindiImposition and #LanguageMartyrsDay, reflecting the DMK's long-standing political position against the imposition of Hindi in Tamil Nadu, a position rooted in the state's history of language rights activism.
