Chief Minister M.K. Stalin accused the Union government of allocating Tamil Nadu 'zero' in the national budget and of acting with the sole intent of shortchanging the state. He said the Secular Progressive Alliance, the coalition led by his DMK party, organised protests at more than 1,000 locations across Tamil Nadu to voice public anger over what he described as the denial of funds and injustice by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government at the Centre. Using the hashtag #TamilNaduVsNDA, Stalin said Tamil Nadu would return the NDA's 'zero' back to it, framing the dispute as a democratic battle in which the state would not bow down. The tweet does not specify particular budget heads or figures, presenting a general political charge of fiscal discrimination against the Union government.
