Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin said his government credited Rs 5,000 to 1.31 crore beneficiaries of the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme, a monthly cash-assistance scheme for women. This amount comprised a Rs 3,000 advance covering February, March, and April, plus a Rs 2,000 summer special package. Stalin alleged that attempts were made to halt the scheme for three months by citing the upcoming election, but said his government moved ahead of that and ensured the disbursement went through. He described the scheme as a personal commitment to Tamil Nadu's women that he would not back down from regardless of opposition. Stalin further pledged that under what he called 'Dravidian Model 2.0', the scheme's monthly payout would be raised from Rs 1,000 to Rs 2,000, describing it as a promise from him to the state's women. The tweet combines an announcement of a completed disbursement with a forward-looking campaign pledge to increase the benefit amount.
