On the agriculture front, the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare opened 16 uzhavar (farmers') markets and 23 new buildings, issued orders for value-addition centres, and launched services for 672 pieces of agricultural machinery and equipment. Separately, the High-Level Committee on Union-State Relations, headed by former Supreme Court judge Justice Kurian Joseph and set up to safeguard states' rights, submitted its report to the government. The Higher Education Department inaugurated academic buildings worth Rs 542.02 crore. On the industrial front, Aequs signed a memorandum of understanding with the Tamil Nadu Industries Department to set up an aerospace and defence manufacturing cluster at SIPCOT Sulagiri with a Rs 4,000 crore investment expected to create 7,000 jobs, producing aircraft components and gearbox parts. Japan's MinebeaMitsumi subsidiary, NMB Minebea India, signed an MoU for a Rs 1,980 crore semiconductor, electrical equipment and motor manufacturing unit in Thiruvallur district, expected to create 1,400 jobs.
