Chief Minister and DMK President M.K. Stalin announced that the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam (DMDK), the party founded by actor and politician Vijayakanth, has joined the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance. Stalin welcomed the party's general secretary, Premalatha Vijayakanth, who currently leads the DMDK, along with its other office-bearers, expressing hope that the alliance would contribute to Tamil Nadu's progress. He praised Vijayakanth's long-standing affection for former Chief Minister and DMK leader Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi, and expressed hope for continuing the 'Dravidian Model' administration together, using the DMK's campaign hashtag 'Velvom Ondraga' (Let's Win Together).
