He contrasted his government's welfare delivery with what he characterised as the central BJP government's practice of taking away benefits from the people, and said he would ask the visiting Prime Minister where the promised schemes for the region are. Stalin rejected any suggestion that the DMK would compromise the party or the self-respect of Tamils out of fear of BJP-led raids and legal cases, invoking the party's history of resisting the Emergency (referencing detentions under the MISA law).
