Chief Minister M.K. Stalin described a journey from Kanyakumari to Nagercoil during which residents waited along the roadside for about two hours to greet him, a display of affection he said continued throughout the district's events. During the visit, his government inaugurated a statue honoring R. Ponnappa Nadar, described as a lieutenant of freedom fighter Marshal Nesamony. He also inaugurated a statue of former Chief Minister Kalaignar (M.
