Chief Minister M.K. Stalin paid tribute to a child, Venba, whose organs were donated by her parents, Somu and Suganya, after her death, describing their decision as an act of humanity despite their grief. He noted that Venba's father, Somu, is a functionary of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) party who has served the public. Stalin said he has continued to raise awareness about organ donation and recalled that on 23 September 2023 the government had announced that the funeral rites of organ donors would henceforth be conducted with state honours. He stated that since that announcement, the number of organ donors in Tamil Nadu has risen to a level unprecedented in the state's history and higher than in any other Indian state, with 653 donors so far having received state-honoured funeral rites. He described these donor families as honourable individuals who gave new life even in death, and used the hashtag #OrganDonation to promote awareness of the cause.
