Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin issued a public statement addressing the safety of Tamils living in Gulf countries amid heightened tensions arising from the conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran. Noting that the Indian government had advised citizens in Iran and neighboring Gulf nations including the UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar to avoid travel and stay safe, Stalin said he was deeply concerned about the welfare of Tamils residing there. He announced that instructions had been issued to the Tamil Nadu government's Department for the Welfare and Rehabilitation of Tamils Overseas to continuously monitor the situation and extend all necessary assistance. A control room has also been established at Tamil Nadu House in New Delhi to track developments. Stalin published emergency helpline numbers, including a New Delhi control room line and numbers run by the overseas Tamils welfare department, urging affected Tamils or their families back home to reach out if urgent help is needed, and asked everyone in the region to follow advisories issued by Indian embassies.
