M.K. Stalin sharply criticized AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami, calling him incapable of ever becoming Chief Minister again, while praising his own father and DMK founder-leader Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi. He contrasted their paths to the Chief Minister's post, obtained through public support, against what he characterized as Palaniswami's route via the 2017 Koovathur political episode.

Editorial context

In a sharply worded political statement, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M.K. Stalin attacked AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami, asserting that fear of electoral defeat had left him unable to speak coherently and that he would never return to power. Stalin praised his late father and DMK founder-leader Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi, describing him as a 'lion' and himself as devoted to him both as father and leader. He drew a contrast between how he and Karunanidhi became Chief Minister — through meeting and winning over the public — versus what he described as Palaniswami's path to the post via the 2017 political turmoil at Koovathur, when factions of the AIADMK regrouped following the party's post-Jayalalithaa split. Stalin said Palaniswami had no standing to comment on him or Karunanidhi, and declared that the people of Tamil Nadu would never grant him that legitimacy. He referred to May 4 as the people's 'Judgement Day', implying it as a date tied to the electoral outcome, on which he said Palaniswami would receive his due punishment at the hands of voters.
