M.K. Stalin criticised the Union BJP government for repeatedly burdening the public, pointing to an earlier hike in commercial LPG cylinder prices that had already raised the cost of goods, and a newly announced increase in petrol, diesel, and CNG prices that he said threatens ordinary people's livelihoods. He asked how the central government intended to protect the public from this.

Editorial context

M.K. Stalin criticised the Union government, led by the BJP, for what he described as repeatedly adding burdens on the public. He noted that an earlier increase in the price of commercial-use LPG cylinders had already pushed up the prices of goods across the board. He said a newly announced hike in petrol, diesel, and CNG prices threatens to put ordinary citizens' livelihoods at risk. Stalin posed a direct question asking how the Union government plans to protect the public from the impact of these price increases. The tweet is a criticism of central government economic policy and its effect on the cost of living, framed within the broader context of Centre-State relations in which Stalin and the DMK have frequently criticised Union government decisions perceived as adversely affecting Tamil Nadu and its people.
