DMK president M.K. Stalin criticised what he described as a pattern of intimidation by the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam government against opposition figures. He cited the arrest of DMK members who protested against a minister over a 'Thug Life' remark he linked to drug-use allegations, a case filed against former minister Sivasankar for criticising the government, and a raid conducted at the house of former minister A.V. Velu. Stalin said the government was intimidating critical opposition parties and avoiding accountability to the media in order to protect what he called its manufactured image, adding that this could not continue indefinitely and that those wielding power arrogantly would eventually be humbled. He said the public would ultimately teach a lesson to what he termed the 'Take Diversion' government, a phrase he has used repeatedly to characterise the administration's handling of controversies.
