Accountability, Apology –

DMK president M.K. Stalin criticised the Tamil Nadu government over what he described as continuing custodial deaths, questioning why the Chief Minister had not publicly addressed the issue. Stalin recalled that the same leader, while in opposition, had pointedly asked him whether merely saying 'sorry' was sufficient in such cases, and asked where that same demand for accountability had gone now that the leader was in office. He suggested that words like 'accountability' and 'apology' appeared to be avoided by the current administration, and strongly condemned the government for what he called a failure to console the families of those who died in custody.
