M.K. Stalin criticized the Tamil Nadu government for its handling of a Supreme Court case, alleging that 151 super-speciality medical seats meant for Tamil Nadu doctors were lost due to the state's senior lawyers failing to appear or argue effectively. He also recalled DMK's role in securing 27% reservation for OBC students in medical admissions six years earlier.

(https://t.co/wNsCbD5mP6)
DMK president M.K. Stalin criticised the Tamil Nadu government over the reported loss of 151 super-speciality medical seats for the state, alleging serious lapses in the government's legal handling of a related Supreme Court case. He said the state's appointed senior lawyers failed to appear or present strong arguments, resulting in what he called a 'surrender' in court despite Tamil Nadu having a strong case. Stalin questioned the delay in appointing senior counsel, the timing of a state-level counselling round conducted before the second round of All India counselling, and why the government did not push through a special assembly resolution against transferring Tamil Nadu's super-speciality seats to the all-India pool, despite the issue being raised in the previous assembly session. He noted that the government's review petition against a 29 May 2026 Supreme Court judgment remains unclear in status. Stalin also recalled that six years earlier, DMK had secured a 27% all-India reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBC) students in medical admissions.
