M.K. Stalin expressed shock over the killing of three Tamils in a forest area of Karnataka, allegedly shot dead by Karnataka forest department personnel, calling the incident a brutal act carried out with no regard for human life. He said it appeared that Karnataka forest officials were attempting to protect the culprits, and demanded instead that the case be registered as murder, with a transparent and unbiased judicial investigation leading to punishment of those responsible, so as to deter similar acts in future. Drawing a comparison to the Mekedatu dam dispute, Stalin said the Tamil Nadu government should not stay silent this time either, and should formally register its condemnation with the Karnataka government. He further called on the Tamil Nadu government to ensure the victims' families receive appropriate compensation as well as government jobs. The tweet reflects an inter-state law-and-order concern involving the treatment of Tamils in a neighbouring state, combined with a call for state government action.
