M.K. Stalin marked the birth anniversary of freedom fighter V.O. Chidambaranar (VOC), recalling his contributions including running a steamship service against British interests and his work in Tamil literature and labor rights. He noted the past Dravidian Model government had taken steps to honor VOC and had announced a memorial for the 1908 Tirunelveli uprising, urging the current government to complete it.

DMK president M.K. Stalin observed the birth anniversary of V.O. Chidambaranar (VOC), recalling his contributions to India's freedom struggle, including operating a steamship service in defiance of British interests and offering resistance against colonial rule, alongside his scholarly work — writing commentary on the Thirukkural, publishing an edition of Tholkappiyam, translating English works, and campaigning for labor rights. Stalin said that over the past five years of Dravidian Model governance, the state government undertook various measures to ensure VOC's life and work reached people widely, and had additionally announced a memorial for the 1908 Tirunelveli uprising. He asked that the current government not abandon this memorial project but see it through to completion, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of a leader he described as remaining permanently etched in Tamils' minds.
