DMK president M.K. Stalin alleged that the Tamil Nadu government's raid on former minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi was a diversionary and politically vindictive act, timed to distract from a string of unresolved problems across the state. He listed several concurrent issues: protests over power cuts affecting people statewide, a fishermen's protest in Pattinapakkam, relatives of people missing in Nepal protesting outside the state secretariat for answers, public distress over an Aavin milk shortage, a double murder in Ramanathapuram, the killing of a government bus driver during a Vinayaka Chaturthi procession in Chennai, and an incident in which a ruling-party functionary allegedly harassed a woman police officer in Ayanavaram. Stalin said the Chief Minister was in London for a film shoot while these issues shook the state, framing the raid as an attempt to shift public attention from governmental failures. He said DMK would contest the raid through legal means and that raiding the opposition would not calm public anger, nor would false allegations hold up in court.
