The govt should expedite the case to deliver justice at the earliest just as Nirbhaya case.

Editorial context

Demanding immediate, exemplary judicial action against perpetrators of sexual violence, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin on March 5, 2014, urged the Tamil Nadu government to expedite criminal prosecution in brutal rape cases to deliver justice at the earliest, just as was achieved in the landmark Nirbhaya case. Stalin highlighted that the alarming rise in sexual offenses, harassment of young girls, and atrocities against vulnerable women across Tamil Nadu had shattered the sense of public safety in both urban and rural areas. He criticized the state police department and the ruling AIADMK administration for shocking procedural delays, defective charge-sheets, and lethargic prosecution that allowed dangerous sexual predators to exploit legal loopholes and secure bail. Stalin emphasized that justice delayed is justice denied, asserting that crimes against women require dedicated fast-track special courts, compassionate victim counseling, and continuous judicial monitoring to conclude proceedings within fixed time limits. He recalled how DMK administrations under Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi established all-women police stations and strengthened legal aid for distressed women. Stalin affirmed that the DMK will never tolerate institutional apathy toward women's safety. He affirmed that prompt judicial punishment remains the strongest deterrent against violent crime.
