Appealing to the humanitarian conscience of society on March 8, 2014, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin commended socially conscious corporates, charitable foundations, and compassionate individuals who actively provide essential assistive devices, including digital hearing aids, to underprivileged hearing-impaired children. Sharing photographs from a specialized welfare event, Stalin urged citizens and philanthropic organizations across the state to step forward and contribute generously to the healthcare and developmental needs of special children wherever they are. He emphasized that every child deserves the opportunity to hear, learn, communicate, and realize their full human potential without economic barriers. Stalin recalled the pioneering social welfare initiatives launched under Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi's DMK government, including establishing the landmark Chief Minister's Kalaignar Insurance Scheme, creating specialized welfare boards for persons with disabilities, and providing free cochlear implant surgeries costing lakhs of rupees for impoverished deaf-mute children. He asserted that a civilized society is judged by how it protects and uplifts its most vulnerable members. Stalin affirmed that the DMK will always champion universal healthcare, specialized pediatric interventions, and comprehensive disability empowerment programs. He pledged continued support for inclusive social welfare.
