Celebrating a historic generational and intellectual revitalization of democratic politics, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin on March 10, 2014, highlighted the progressive composition of the DMK's candidate list for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. Stalin pointed out that among the announced candidates, twenty-seven were contesting parliamentary elections for the very first time, representing a bold infusion of dynamic young talent into national politics. In addition, the slate featured an impressive array of highly qualified professionals, including dedicated social workers, medical doctors, software and civil engineers, practicing advocates, and postgraduate scholars, alongside two prominent women candidates. Stalin emphasized that this merit-oriented selection reflected party president Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi's visionary policy of nurturing educated, socially committed leaders rooted in Dravidian ideology. He contrasted the DMK's transparent, intellectually formidable candidate list with rival parties that nominated criminal elements, dynastic cronies, and corrupt sycophants. Stalin asserted that these articulate, educated parliamentarians would champion Tamil Nadu's rights with unparalleled expertise in New Delhi. He called upon the electorate to vote for the Rising Sun symbol to elect progressive leaders. He affirmed that youth renewal ensures enduring democratic strength.
