Bangalore court slaps 2nd continous day of Rs. 65000/- fine. How long will this 'vaaidha' strategy continue?

Editorial context

Delivering a scathing critique of Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa's persistent efforts to stall the judicial process, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin on March 16, 2014, condemned the ruling party leader after the Special Court in Bengaluru imposed a fine of 65,000 rupees for the second consecutive day for seeking frivolous adjournments in the multi-crore disproportionate assets case. Stalin asked how long this shameless 'vaaidha' (adjournment) strategy would continue, pointing out that over eighteen long years, the defense had submitted thousands of dilatory petitions, changed lawyers, and manufactured medical excuses solely to evade a final judicial verdict. He emphasized that ordinary citizens accused of petty offenses are swiftly prosecuted and punished, whereas an incumbent Chief Minister with massive unexplained wealth was brazenly mocking constitutional jurisprudence and wasting judicial time. Stalin asserted that continuing to hold high constitutional office while being repeatedly penalized by criminal courts diminishes the dignity of Tamil Nadu and insults the rule of law. He urged the public to recognize this moral bankruptcy and deliver a resounding verdict against corruption by voting for the DMK. He affirmed that justice will ultimately prevail over subterfuge.
