My heart goes out to families of Erode sipcot victims. It's time we establish rigorous industrial safety standards!
Expressing profound grief and sorrow over the tragic industrial disaster at the Erode SIPCOT industrial estate, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin on March 18, 2014, conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased workers. Stalin emphasized that every industrial worker has the fundamental right to safe working conditions and that human lives must never be sacrificed at the altar of corporate negligence or administrative lethargy. He strongly condemned the AIADMK government and the Department of Industrial Safety for failing to conduct periodic safety audits, boiler inspections, and hazardous chemical protocols across chemical processing and manufacturing plants. Stalin pointed out that lax regulatory enforcement had turned industrial zones into hazardous death traps for poor daily wage laborers and migrant workers. He urged the state administration to sanction immediate, substantial ex-gratia compensation and comprehensive medical care for the injured. Stalin demanded the formulation of rigorous, modern industrial safety standards with strict punitive penalties for non-compliant employers. He affirmed that worker welfare, occupational health, and human dignity will always remain central to the DMK's industrial development philosophy. He affirmed that industrial growth must never compromise worker safety and human dignity.
