Resuming his intensive statewide election tour after attending critical party strategy consultations in Chennai, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin on March 20, 2014, arrived in Thanjavur parliamentary constituency to lead a high-voltage campaign for senior leader and DMK candidate T. R. Baalu. Stalin traveled through major agrarian taluks, historic delta villages, and bustling trade junctions, where thousands of agricultural laborers, paddy farmers, women self-help group members, and youth assembled to greet the motorcade. He emphasized that electing an experienced administrator and former Union Cabinet minister like Baalu would ensure that Thanjavur's urgent developmental priorities—including railway double-tracking, national highway modernizations, and Cauvery irrigation protections—are forcefully championed in Parliament. Stalin contrasted Baalu's proven record of executing mega infrastructure projects across Tamil Nadu with the total inactivity and indifference of the ruling AIADMK. He called upon the people of Thanjavur to unite behind the Rising Sun symbol to deliver a crushing blow to misgovernance. Stalin affirmed that the DMK will always stand as the unyielding voice of the Cauvery delta, ensuring agricultural prosperity, social security, and comprehensive regional infrastructure development. He affirmed that dedicated public advocacy remains the true hallmark of DMK representatives.
