Addressing a mammoth and spirited night public gathering in coastal Cuddalore on March 22, 2014, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin championed the urgent developmental priorities of fishermen, chemical industrial workers, and agrarian families. Stalin highlighted that the vast ocean of citizens gathered under the night sky demonstrated the electorate's deep anger against the incompetent and corrupt AIADMK administration. He pointed out that coastal Cuddalore, frequently battered by natural cyclones and maritime disasters, had been completely abandoned by the ruling regime, which failed to build adequate permanent sea-walls, modernize fishing harbors, or provide timely relief subsidies. In addition, toxic industrial pollution in SIPCOT industrial estates was left unmonitored, severely impacting community health. Stalin recalled the major welfare initiatives instituted under Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi's DMK government, including the historic Tsunami rehabilitation concrete houses, establishing dedicated fishermen welfare boards, and providing subsidized diesel. He promised that the DMK will secure central port modernizations, establish pollution control monitoring, and guarantee fair prices for agricultural produce. Stalin urged the vast audience to vote overwhelmingly for the Rising Sun symbol to restore progressive governance. He affirmed that defending coastal ecosystems and fisher livelihoods remains a sacred moral obligation.
