Launching a spirited election campaign across Chidambaram parliamentary constituency on March 23, 2014, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin rallied voters to re-elect prominent subaltern leader, author, and Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) President Thol. Thirumavalavan with a resounding majority. Stalin addressed massive gatherings of Dalits, agricultural laborers, minority communities, and youth, highlighting Thirumavalavan's exceptional stature as an uncompromising champion of social justice, constitutional equality, and human dignity. He emphasized that the DMK-VCK alliance was forged on shared ideological principles of Dravidian self-respect and Ambedkarite emancipation, dedicated to dismantling caste oppression and defending secularism against communal forces. Stalin pointed out that Thirumavalavan had used his tenure in Parliament to fearlessly articulate the rights of marginalized communities and secure central infrastructure funds for Chidambaram. He contrasted this principled leadership with the opportunistic, casteist politics promoted by rival parties. Stalin called upon the electorate to unite behind Thirumavalavan to send an articulate progressive voice to the Lok Sabha. He affirmed that the DMK will always stand shoulder to shoulder with the VCK in the struggle for equality. He affirmed that democratic unity against reactionary forces remains vital for safeguarding the Indian Republic.
