Focusing directly on the plight of manufacturing laborers and small-scale industrialists, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin on March 27, 2014, conducted intensive interactive sessions across the industrial clusters of Coimbatore. Stalin visited small motor pump manufacturing units, casting foundries, and precision workshops, witnessing firsthand the devastating impact of ten-hour daily power blackouts on assembly lines and worker wages. Industrialists lamented that contract orders were being canceled while skilled workers were migrating away due to declining production hours. Stalin condemned the AIADMK government for its callous indifference to the MSME sector, which forms the economic lifeline of western Tamil Nadu. He recalled how the previous DMK government under Dr. Kalaignar Karunanidhi nurtured small industries through dedicated credit guarantees, single-window clearances, and concessional power tariffs. Stalin pledged that the DMK will ensure uninterrupted dedicated industrial power feeders, establish advanced tool rooms, and abolish oppressive bureaucratic compliance burdens. He called upon the industrial workforce to vote decisively for the Rising Sun symbol to restore vitality and dignity to Coimbatore's manufacturing sector. He affirmed that worker welfare remains paramount. He affirmed that industrial vitality and worker dignity must always advance together.
