Reflecting upon the extraordinary popular turnout greeting his campaign caravan throughout Coimbatore on March 27, 2014, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin affirmed that the spontaneous ocean of citizens gathered across the metropolis signaled an unstoppable democratic mandate for change. Stalin remarked that the enthusiastic cheers of thousands of foundry technicians, textile weavers, college youth, and homemakers standing on rooftops and balconies demonstrated that the people of the Kongu region had completely lost faith in the hollow promises of the AIADMK. He pointed out that while Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa governed from distant ivory towers, the DMK remained permanently embedded among the working masses, sharing their aspirations and championing their struggles. Stalin recalled how the DMK government hosted the World Classical Tamil Conference in Coimbatore, celebrating Tamil heritage while executing permanent civic infrastructure works worth hundreds of crores. He urged the electorate to transform their overwhelming affection into a historic victory for the Rising Sun symbol in the forthcoming elections. Stalin affirmed that the DMK will restore Coimbatore's premier status as South India's industrial engine. He affirmed that urban infrastructure modernization will always be pursued with visionary commitment.
