Launching a determined campaign across the mountainous terrain of Nilgiris parliamentary constituency on March 28, 2014, DMK Treasurer M. K. Stalin rallied voters to re-elect former Union Minister A. Raja with an overwhelming majority. Stalin addressed enthusiastic gatherings of indigenous Toda and Badaga communities, plantation laborers, small tea growers, and hill farmers, emphasizing Raja's unparalleled parliamentary record in delivering historic developmental projects to Nilgiris. He highlighted that during his tenure in the Union Cabinet, Raja secured central approvals and funding for world-class high-altitude road connectivity, government medical and engineering colleges, upgraded INDCOSERVE tea processing factories, and comprehensive tribal land rights under the Forest Rights Act. Stalin contrasted this substantive record of public service with the vindictive, conspiratorial attacks orchestrated by political rivals. He pointed out that three years of AIADMK governance had neglected the hill district, allowing tea prices to crash and tourism infrastructure to decay. Stalin called upon the people of Nilgiris to vote decisively for the Rising Sun symbol to ensure fearless representation in Parliament. He affirmed that the DMK stands permanently committed to Nilgiris' prosperity. He emphasized that dedicated parliamentary advocacy remains the bedrock of regional development.
